A Local Landmark with a Rich Coastal History

Perched on a hillside with stunning views over Cleveland and the islands, the Cleveland Tavern has been a local gathering place for more than 20 years. First opening its doors in 1996, the venue was originally known as the Irish-themed Dicey Reilly’s, before transitioning into the Cleveland Taverna name that reflects its place in the heart of the community.

Cleveland itself is a coastal region in the City of Redland, Queensland, with a history dating back to the 1860s. The area was initially developed as a farming settlement, known for its fertile land that supported crops such as sugar, cotton, and bananas. By the late 19th century, Cleveland had become an important port for Brisbane, facilitating the transport of timber and agricultural goods.

From its early days as Dicey Reilly’s to its modern identity as the Cleveland Tavern, the pub has remained a community staple, evolving to meet the needs of locals while maintaining its welcoming atmosphere.
